February is Heart Month and the perfect time to make the commitment to use your heart and your head to improve your health. Learning to be proactive can help you mitigate and navigate the sea of symptoms that can occur when you have rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Those symptoms include inflammation that causes your joints to scream so loudly that your attention is pulled to them like a needle to a magnet. That inflammation can also hit your heart—hard. It has been reported that people with RA are twice as likely to develop heart disease. However, a recent study from The Mayo Clinic brings some good news. Thanks to better diagnosis and treatment, deaths from cardiovascular disease amongst RA patients is declining.
