Last fall, I had two wisdom teeth removed. In all likelihood, your dentist will give you a detailed sheet of what to expect and do post-extraction.
Somewhere on that list, you'll be told to ice. Do it and not just once for 20 minutes! Use that ice-pack often throughout the day. Ask your dentist how long you need to wait before the next icy hit.
It made a huge difference for me. In fact, the whole experience became a non-event. No chipmunk cheeks, no bruising and very little in the way of pain medications.
