I was sent home from the hospital with a prescription for one of the pain killers in the opioid family (Codeine, Morphine, Tramadol). They are well-known for their constipating effects. One thing that was never written on my hospital discharge papers, but should have been, was an *ahem* stool softener.
Drinking glass upon glass of prune juice didn't help, but a stool softener did.
