#335 – Rock My Sole

auntie stress rocker sole

"Bongiorno! Come stai?" greeted Antonio, my local shoemaker. Ever since my second hip replacement resulted in a leg length discrepancy, I've become a regular customer.

In addition to adding a half-inch sole, he will often grind down the toe area on both shoes, creating a rocker sole. With fused toes, you lose the toe-off, so a rocker sole helps simulate that movement.

The surgeon suggested a place that specialized in orthopedic shoe modifications. However, when you factor in the $100 or more to the cost of the shoes, the price becomes prohibitive. The physiotherapist in the arthritis program at the hospital recommended Antonio Lorenzo in North Delta. His wonderful work keeps me walking, which is good for my soul!
