#307 – Drinking Fountains

When was the last time you saw a drinking fountain installed in a new building?

Municipalities are encouraging us to reduce our use of disposable bottles. The theory is that citizens will fill up at home and bring their own bottles.

As we all know, theory is one thing, practice quite another.

In the meantime, what are municipalities doing to encourage this practice? Are they making it easy to forego our addiction to those easy-to-grab-and-go plastic bottles by changing the building code and requiring that drinking fountains be installed, in private and public buildings, as well as on the street?

Kudos to the City of Vancouver for installing public drinking water fountains.

Are drinking fountains an endangered species in your community? What is your community doing to promote and encourage its residents to fill up at the fountain?
