#303 – Comparatitis

There's an insidious infection going around. Perhaps you've been afflicted?

The symptoms involve comparing yourself to others and often, coming up short.

You may not even be aware you have it; mainly because it's what you always do. Someone does something well, you automatically measure yourself against the actions of the other person and find that you are lacking. Then, you start to beat yourself up for not being good enough.

Sadly, you've just opened up the back door and let in that monster otherwise known as stress. When "Comparatitis" sneaks up on you, it can erode your self-esteem and trigger the stress response.

Fortunately, when you undress your stress, you begin to see yourself through new eyes, or rather through the wisdom of the heart. It's a kinder, more compassionate viewpoint. One that's good for you, emotionally, mentally and physically.
