Yesterday, I had occasion to traverse several crosswalks.
Not all crosswalks are created equal. Some were fine to negotiate. On others, I felt as if I were making my way across regularly-spaced patches of ice even though there was no ice in sight.
During wet weather, the paint become especially slippery. As a rule of thumb, I always do a slip test before making my way across the painted area.
To decrease the slip risk, I often wonder why municipalities don't regularly mix sand into the crosswalk paint.
Are the crosswalks in your community slippery when wet? When the pavement is wet, have you ever slipped on the painted section?
