#102 – Ignition – Ready, Set, Go!

An important consideration to make when purchasing a new or new-to-you vehicle is the placement of the ignition key hole.

In my old car, the ignition key hole was located flush with the dash, which meant twisting the wrist (external rotation) in order to start the engine. This can be both difficult and painful.

It is much more wrist and hand-friendly when the ignition is placed on the steering column and you have a key such as the one that came with my car or a key extender, which can be made by an occupational therapist or purchased from a medical supply store.
