#16 – All You Gotta Do Is Ask

Those small pill bottles with the safety caps can be impossible to open with fingers that are swollen, dislocated and/or deformed.

I've learned to ask the pharmacist for the chubby (pictured on the left), easy-off caps. Chubby makes it easier to hold and easy-off - well, that's self-explanatory.

Keep safety in mind. If you have young children or pets at home, store your medication in an out-of-reach location.

  1. Great piece of advice…this is also helpful for adults who don’t have rheumatoid arthritis but have other issues/injuries that make dealing with the medication caps painful and/or difficult.

  2. There are some lovely new medication bottles that I get from my pharmacy – they are not child proof (which I cannot open!) and they are wonderful. They have a flip top and are bright yellow – so easy for sore hands to open!
